Kiln Terms of Service
        Effective Date: September 21, 2026 (extension v2.13.0)

        1. Acceptance of Terms
        These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Kiln browser extension, the Kiln web API, the Kiln website, and related services (together, the "Service"). Kiln is operated by an individual developer known as Index ("we," "our," or "us"). By installing the extension, linking your Polytoria account, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy (https://kiln.indexx.dev/privacy). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

        2. About the Service
            2.1 What Kiln Is
            Kiln is a quality-of-life browser extension and web API for Polytoria. It adds features to the Polytoria website, such as themes, likes, place reviews, trading tools, avatar outfits, and player labels. Some of these features are powered by our API and store data on our servers.

            2.2 No Affiliation with Polytoria
            Kiln is an independent, unofficial project. It is not created, endorsed, sponsored, or operated by Polytoria. "Polytoria" and related names belong to their respective owners. Your use of Polytoria remains subject to Polytoria's own terms and rules.

            2.3 Third-Party Services
            The Service relies on or links to third-party services, including Polytoria, PolyTrack, Discord, Cloudflare, and browser extension stores. We do not control these services and are not responsible for them. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies.

        3. Eligibility and Accounts
            3.1 Age
            You must be at least 13 years old, or 16 where required by the laws of your jurisdiction, to use the Service.

            3.2 Account Linking
            Certain features require you to link your Polytoria account to Kiln by placing a verification phrase in your Polytoria bio. You may only link an account that you own and control.

            3.3 Account Security
            You are responsible for activity that occurs through your linked account and for the security of the browser and devices you use Kiln on. You may unlink your account and revoke your sessions at any time.

        4. Acceptable Use
        You agree to follow these rules whenever you use the Service. They apply to everything you submit or make visible to others through Kiln, including themes, reviews, replies, notes, stickers, banners, images, feedback, and outfit names.

            4.1 Respectful Conduct
            Do not harass, threaten, or bully anyone. Hate speech and discrimination of any kind, including on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age, will not be tolerated.

            4.2 Prohibited Content
            Do not upload, publish, or link to content that is sexually explicit, excessively violent, hateful, deceptive, illegal, or otherwise inappropriate or offensive. This applies to images, text, custom CSS, and any other material in a theme, review, reply, note, or feedback submission. Do not publish content that infringes another person's intellectual property or privacy rights.

            4.3 Exploitation and Abuse of the Service
            Do not exploit or abuse the Service or its features. This includes:
                * Attempting to gain unauthorized access to the Service, its servers, or another user's account or data
                * Exploiting a security vulnerability instead of reporting it. If you find one, please report it privately to contact@indexx.dev and allow reasonable time for a fix before disclosing it
                * Circumventing or interfering with any rate limit, moderation or approval process, authentication mechanism, or other safeguard
                * Manipulating likes, ratings, reviews, or statistics, including through automated tools, multiple accounts, or coordinated activity
                * Sending spam, floods of requests, or repeated false reports
                * Using custom CSS or other theme features to run scripts, track or fingerprint other users, or disrupt the appearance or function of the Polytoria site
                * Disrupting or overloading the Service

            4.4 Impersonation
            Do not impersonate other users, Polytoria staff, or the operator of Kiln, and do not falsely claim to be affiliated with or endorsed by any of them. This includes making themes, reviews, or profile content that is designed to appear as though someone else created it.

            4.5 Polytoria Rules
            Common sense and Polytoria's site rules apply. Content or conduct that is prohibited on Polytoria is also prohibited through Kiln, and you may not use the Service to evade a moderation action taken by Polytoria.

            4.6 Compliance with Law
            You must comply with all laws that apply to your use of the Service.

        5. API Access, Open Source, and Restrictions
            5.1 Source Code Licensing
            The Kiln browser extension is open source and licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPL-3.0). Your rights to copy, modify, and distribute the extension's source code are governed by that license and are not limited by these Terms. The Kiln web API, the Kiln website, and the Cloudflare Worker API are not open source. They are not licensed for copying, modification, or redistribution, and all rights in them are reserved.

            5.2 The API Is Not Covered by the GPL
            The GPL-3.0 license applies to the extension's code only. It does not grant any right to use the Kiln API, our servers, or the data stored on them. Access to the API is a limited permission granted to the official Kiln extension and website, and it is governed by these Terms.

            5.3 Competing Products
            Without our prior written permission, you may not:
                * Use or integrate the Kiln API, or data obtained from it, in any browser extension, userscript, application, website, bot, or other product other than the official Kiln extension and website
                * Build, distribute, promote, or advertise any extension or product that offers features powered by Kiln's API
                * Advertise, market, or solicit users to switch to an extension or product that replicates or competes with Kiln's features, including within Kiln-provided content such as themes, reviews, replies, notes, and feedback
                * Distribute a modified, repackaged, or rebranded version of the Kiln extension that connects to the Kiln API. You may fork and distribute the extension's code under the GPL-3.0, but a fork must run on its own backend

            5.4 Technical Restrictions
            Without our prior written permission, you may not:
                * Access the API by any means other than the official extension or interfaces we publish
                * Use automated tools to scrape, harvest, or bulk-download data from the API
                * Exceed reasonable usage or circumvent rate limits, authentication, or access controls
                * Copy, mirror, or republish data from the API, including to seed or populate another service or database
                * Sell, license, or otherwise use the API or its data for commercial purposes, including through advertising, subscriptions, or paid features
                * Falsify the extension version, user agent, or other information the extension reports to us
                * Reverse engineer or attempt to obtain the non-public server-side code of the API, website, or Cloudflare Worker API

            5.5 Enforcement
            We may block, throttle, or revoke access to the API for any client, account, or network at any time and without notice if we believe these restrictions are being violated.

        6. Your Content
            6.1 Ownership
            You keep ownership of the content you create and submit through the Service, such as themes, reviews, replies, outfits, and feedback ("User Content").

            6.2 License to Kiln
            By submitting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, render, and display it as needed to operate the Service. For example, this allows us to show your published themes and reviews to other users, generate preview images of your themes, and receive your feedback. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to backups and as described in our Privacy Policy.

            6.3 Your Responsibilities
            You are responsible for your User Content. You confirm that you own it or have the right to submit it, and that it does not violate these Terms or any law or third party's rights.

            6.4 Moderation
            Themes, profile themes, reviews, and replies may require approval before other users can see them, and other users may report content for review. We may review, approve, reject, edit, hide, or remove any User Content at any time and for any reason, including violations of these Terms. If you believe content on Kiln infringes your copyright or other rights, email contact@indexx.dev with a link to the content and a description of the issue, and we will review it promptly.

        7. Enforcement and Termination
            7.1 Our Rights
            If we believe you have violated these Terms, we may remove content, disable features, restrict or suspend your account, permanently ban your account from the Service, revoke your tokens, or block your access to the API. We may do so without prior notice.

            7.2 Ban Evasion
            You may not circumvent a suspension or ban, including by linking a different account or using multiple accounts.

            7.3 Appeals
            If you believe an action was taken against you in error, you may contact us at contact@indexx.dev. We will review your request but are not obligated to reverse any decision.

            7.4 Termination by You
            You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and unlinking your account. To have your data deleted, contact us at contact@indexx.dev as described in our Privacy Policy.

            7.5 Survival
            Sections 5, 6.2, and 8 continue to apply after your access ends.

        8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
            8.1 Disclaimer of Warranties
            The Service is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Kiln is an unofficial project that depends on Polytoria's website and APIs. Changes made by Polytoria may cause features to break, behave unexpectedly, or stop working at any time. We do not guarantee that any feature will remain available, accurate, or compatible. Content shown through the Service, including User Content, player labels, and third-party data, is not verified or endorsed by us.

            8.2 No Liability
            To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages or losses of any kind arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, and consequential damages, and loss of data, accounts, or items, as well as any action taken by Polytoria or any other third party in connection with your use of a browser extension. You use the Service at your own risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.

        9. Changes to the Service and These Terms
            9.1 Changes to the Service
            We may add, change, restrict, or remove features, or suspend or discontinue the Service or any part of it, temporarily or permanently, at any time. This includes changes in response to updates made by Polytoria.

            9.2 Changes to These Terms
            We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify users through the extension or via Polytoria's messaging system and update the effective date above. Continuing to use the Service after updated Terms take effect means you accept them.

        10. General
            * Entire Agreement: These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service
            * Severability: If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect
            * No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later
            * Assignment: You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours if the ownership or operation of the Service changes
